EBONY Magazine is the most well-known magazine targeted towards African Americans. EBONY Magazine has great, creativity magazine covers. My project was to create web banners to advertise each monthly magazine. Because each magazine always had a great imagery and vibrant colors, I wanted to make web banners that really show off the magazine covers and made them ‘pop’ within the web banner. Each cover, I pulled an accent color from the cover and used that as a background color on the banner ad. By doing that,the background color contrasted from the main colors of the magazine color, which really made the cover stand out. I also had a similar concept for EBONY commemorative magazines. I made sure to find a background image to contrast from the magazine cover to make it ‘pop’.
